What is Network Layer?
The network layer is concerned with getting packets from the source all the way to the destination. The packets may require to make many hops at the intermediate routers while reaching the destination. This is the lowest layer that deals with end to end transmission. In order to achieve its goals, the network layer must know about the topology of the communication network. It must also take care to choose routes to avoid overloading of some of the communication lines while leaving others idle. The network layer-transport layer interface frequently is the interface between the carrier and the customer, that is the boundary of the subnet. The functions of this layer include :

In single task operating systems the issue of scheduling is trivial: after the system has set up the execution environment of a process, CPU control is given to it until the process itself exits. In a pun, the system is not operating at all during the program's execution, save for providing services through subroutine calls. It's only with multi-tasking operating systems that scheduling becomes a top entry in a designer's agenda.
In many multitasking systems the processor scheduling subsystem operates on three levels, differentiated by the time scale at which they perform their operations. In this sense we differentiate among:

PART TWO contains FIVE questions.
2. PART ONE is to be answered in the TEAR-OFF ANSWER SHEET only, attached to the
question paper, as per the instructions contained therein. PART ONE is NOT to be
answered in the answer book.
3. Maximum time allotted for PART ONE is ONE HOUR. Answer book for PART TWO will be
supplied at the table when the answer sheet for PART ONE is returned. However,
candidates, who complete PART ONE earlier than one hour, can collect the answer book
for PART TWO immediately after handing over the answer sheet for PART ONE.
